May 5th – AYC’s 7th Annual Nonprofit Fair presented by our Leadership Service Committee

Join us for the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce’s 7th annual Non Profit Fair on Thursday, May 5th from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Texas State Capitol outside the Legislative Conference Center. This event will showcase 25+ local non-profits that offer rewarding opportunities for young professionals to serve in the Austin community. There will be ample food, drinks, and networking opportunities.


May 8th – LSC: Join AYC’s Run Team for Silicon Labs 3rd annual Sunshine Run

On Sunday, May 8th, AYC members are teaming up to help Silicon Labs in their 3rd annual Sunshine Run fundraiser for the Austin Sunshine Camp by running, walking, or crawling our way to the finish line! AYC members have been offered a discount on registration – RSVP and we will send you a link and 25% off coupon!


May 9th – Mindfulness: A Young Professional’s Tool for Finding Calm in the Midst of the Storm Presented by Seton

This event is a lunch and learn. Lunch will be provided.

About the Speaker

Dr. Meredith Davenport is an OB/GYN physician at Seton Medical Center Hays. She is passionate about promoting physician wellness and discovered the practice of mindfulness in her search to develop her own resiliency. Dr. Davenport continues to cultivate her own mindfulness practice that supports both her personal and professional life. She enjoys introducing others to the practice. She has been honored to teach an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) class to first year medical students in the Physician Healer Track at UTMB in Galveston for the past 2 years.

May 16th – Austin New Leaders Academy Organized by AYC and YNPN Presented by HEB and Chase Bank: Managers vs. Leaders, Which One Are You?

This is the ninth session of a 12-part Workshop Series organized by AYC and YNPN.

About the speaker: David Altounian is the former Founder, Co-Chairman and CEO of Motion Computing, a leading provider of mobile computing products for vertical markets. Motion was formed in 2001 and now serves customers in over 24 countries around the world. He also was a founder of iTaggit Inc., an early web 2.0 company focused on item management. Mr. Altounian earned his MBA at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and is currently completing his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University. Mr. Altounian is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship in the School of Business and Management at St. Edwards University.

May 25th – Speaker Series: Tony Budet presented by Texas MBA, Texas MSTC, & Newks

AYC Speaker Series is a monthly event featuring local leaders, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers. Tony Budet has served since 2000 as President and Chief Executive Officer of University Federal Credit Union. Budet is a seasoned executive, strategist, and innovator who, during his 30-year tenure with UFCU has held several executive-level roles, including Chief Financial Officer, and has successfully guided the organization through a variety of regulatory, economic, and competitive conditions.

    


May 31st – AYC Lunch-and-Learn with Mission Capital presented by VERTS

Join the Leadership Service Committee on Tuesday, May 31 for a Lunch-and-Learn with Mission Capital presented by VERTS Mediterranean Grill! This event, hosted at the Mitte Carriage House, will include lunch with colleagues and a presentation from Amber Fogarty, Director of Learning and Leadership, and Kristina Jakstas, Membership Manager, to gain insights into Mission Capital’s new strategic direction and offerings. Join us to learn how Austin’s social sector is evolving, how Mission Capital helps nonprofits and philanthropists have a greater impact, and how young professionals can get involved at a deeper level.
