Join a Committee

The Austin Young Chamber provides many committees and programs that provide opportunities for getting involved in the AYC community.

Ambassador Committee:

The welcoming committee for AYC! This committee meets monthly and hosts a new member event each month. It’s a great way to meet new people! Acts as a liaison between the Board and the AYC members, responsible for listening, understanding and communicating membership needs. AYC Ambassadors are committed to assisting new and existing members in getting the maximum benefit out of their memberships. Members of the Ambassador Committee will have the opportunity to serve as hosts for AYC events, network and meet with new members as well as introduce potential members to our organization.

Time Commitment: Monthly meeting at 5:30pm on the second Monday of every month; asked to attend AYC events and mixers as schedule permits.

Economic Development Committee

The Economic Development Committee’s purpose is to create opportunity for relative financial success and security for young Austin residents. Working with other AYC committees, members, local groups, and business, this committee is a forward-looking group focused on solutions for Austin’s young professionals. The Committee is responsible for recommending policy positions to the AYC staff and Board of Directors, educating chamber members about key central Texas policies affecting our members and chamber, connecting community and civic leaders to our members, and creating civic engagement opportunities for members and Austin-area young professionals.

Time Commitment: Monthly meeting at 6:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month; AYC and community events as schedule permits.

Leadership Service Committee:

The Leadership Service Committee acts as a conduit between Austin-area non-profits and AYC’s young professional member base. This committee meets quarterly, hosts an annual Nonprofit Fair and organizes community service events throughout the year.

Time Commitment: Monthly community service events, date varies month-to-month.

Imagine Committee:

The Imagine Committee connects members with the Austin arts and culture scene. This committee meets monthly and hosts/coordinates a variety of events throughout the year. Imagine brings the circle of professionals and artists together by partnering with various arts-related organizations and attending and/or otherwise supporting their activities.

Time Commitment: Monthly meeting at 6:30pm on the third Tuesday of the month and volunteer requirements at Imagine events.

LEAD Summit + ChangeMaker Awards Committee:

The LEAD Summit + ChangeMaker Awards Committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of the annual LEAD Summit and ChangeMaker Awards. The LEAD Summit (Learn | Explore | Act | Develop) is a one-day event that combines both learning and action. The ChangeMaker Awards is where we celebrate several amazing ChangeMakers in our community. The ChangeMaker Awards are open to all and nominations will be available in the fall. The committee will help with LEAD programming, speaker procurement, creating the nominations and voting program, determining a marketing plan, assisting in venue selection, sponsorship outreach, and more. 

Time Commitment: One monthly meeting. May include some offline subcommittee planning sessions. Committee members are expected to volunteer at the event. 

Chair: Ashley Alaniz-Moyer

FAVE Awards Committee:

The FAVE Committee is responsible for helping plan and implement the annual FAVE (Favorite Austin Venture or Enterprise) Awards, the only business awards gala planned by and for the young professional community. Committee members will coordinate the nominations process, award categories, sponsorships, venue selection, silent auction donations, and community outreach. The 2018 FAVE Awards Gala will be held on Friday, November 9th at the Hilton Austin Downtown.

Time Commitment: One monthly meeting. May include some offline subcommittee planning sessions. Committee members are expected to volunteer at the event.

Casino Social Committee:

The Casino Social Committee is responsible for helping plan and implement AYC’s annual Casino Social fundraiser, one of Austin’s largest events for young professionals. Committee members will help coordinate sponsors, event logistics, venue selection, games/prizes, and vendors. This event is typically held in June.

Time Commitment: One monthly meeting. May include some offline subcommittee planning sessions. Committee members are expected to volunteer at the event.
