A Fond Farewell to our Executive Director

Dear members,

For nearly four years, Matt Glazer has been the indelible leader of the Austin Young Chamber, serving as Executive Director. During this time, Matt has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of younger professionals in Austin and make our voices heard.

It is with the utmost gratitude for Matt’s dedicated service that we announce his upcoming departure as Executive Director, planned for September 15, 2017.

During Matt’s tenure, beginning as an Austin Young Chamber member and into his current role, membership has grown to include 500+ members, and engagement has deepened, with more members taking on leadership roles inside AYC and in some of the most notable organizations in Austin. Because of Matt’s leadership and vision, members have also been motivated to serve on boards and commissions, and inspired to improve the Austin business community. His passion and drive has led us all to tackle new opportunities and further ourselves as potential leaders.

Matt has been instrumental in growing Austin Young Chamber’s signature programs, including Casino Social, the FAVE Awards, and the ChangeMaker Awards. With over 400 people filling Brazos Hall in June, this year’s Casino Social event was the most successful fundraiser in Austin Young Chamber history. At May’s Nonprofit Fair, over 200 people connected with dozens of nonprofit organizations to learn more about giving back in Austin. And these are just the most recent examples of the heights to which Matt has pushed Austin Young Chamber. With Matt’s vision guiding enthusiastic committee members, these events help to build personal relationships and encourage us to make an impact on the city we love.

Whether you’ve run alongside Matt in the CASA 5K run, been inspired to take on a leadership position, or chatted at a happy hour, you’ve no doubt seen his passion for community creation and his drive to push all of us forward. As members and partners of this great organization, we all play a vital role in determining the vision for the future of our city, and we’ve been incredibly lucky to have Matt serve as an expert guide.

Please join me in showing our appreciation to Matt for the amazing work he’s done! And look for a celebration event to be announced in the coming weeks so that we can gather together and raise a glass to our friend and leader. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Warmly,

Adam Flagg
