About the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce (AYC):

General Summary:
The Austin Young Chamber is seeking a Business, Marketing, Communication, or English Writing major who is interested in a paid internship for the Summer 2018 semester. The intern will assist the Event and Marketing Coordinator in developing marketing materials, posting on social media, planning/attending/helping at Austin Young Chamber events, and assisting with other communication-related projects as assigned. The intern will gain great professional experience for his or her resume while experiencing the daily activities of a thriving Chamber for young professionals.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assist with marketing activities for email, social, website.
  2. Assist with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) posts as needed.
  3. Assist with the planning and execution of events.
  4. Research and Development as needed.
  5. Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design software.
  2. Familiarity with MailChimp, WordPress software.
  3. Ability to generate copy for social, emails, etc.

Physical Demands and Environment:
The Communications Assistant will be expected to have daily transportation. The position requires a flexible schedule as events and meetings may occur in the evenings or occasionally on weekends. He/she will spend some time in the office that could involve intermittent physical activities including bending, reaching, sitting and walking. Additionally it is anticipated that the person may spend several hours of each day seated at a PC.
