Name: Chelsea Woodhead
Company: BuildASign.com
Title: Sponsorships Coordinator

Why did you join the AYC?
I heard about the great things that it was doing in the community for non-profits and also about all the professional benefits of networking and connecting with other young professionals and had to be part of it!

How did you get to Austin?
After visiting for a weekend, my husband and I decided we just had to live here! We sold almost everything that we owned and packed what was left into a 10’x10’ cube and jumped in the car. It was truly a leap of faith and an adventure that just keeps going.

What are your top 3 things to do or see in Austin?
Check out ‘First Thursday’ on South Congress, floating the Guadalupe in the heat of summer, and get involved with all the great recreational sports that are available here!

If you played hooky for a day, where would we find you?
Town Lake or hiking with my dog Riley on one of Austin’s great trails

When people ask you what you do for a living, what do you tell them?
That I have the best job in the world! At BuildASign.com, I get work with amazing non-profits and cause-related organizations and give them in-kind donations through our Sponsorship Program. I hear about all the incredible things happening in Austin, and around the country, and provide support for them.

If you couldn’t live in Austin, where would you want to live?
Back in the Pacific Northwest – maybe Seattle or Portland. I went to Gonzaga University (Go Zags!) and lots of college friends are up in that area. My family also lives in Washington so it would be great to be closer to them as well.

How do you give back?
I serve on the AYC Community Committee and also on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Committee which allows me to work very closely with two great organizations that I am very passionate about. I also get to give back every day through my job at BuildASign.com by giving donations in our Sponsorship Program.
