Austin Young Chamber Announces it’s Month of Membership

The Austin Young Chamber of Commerce (AYC) announces September as it’s Month of Membership. The AYC’s Month of Membership is entire month dedicated to engaging current members and recruiting new ones. This September, the AYC will feature four events focusing on current and potential members. These events include a Committee Crawl, AYC’s Annual Tailgate, AYC Membership Mixer, and an AYC Speaker Series. For this month ONLY these events will feature special incentives for current and new members to join the AYC, get engaged, and get the most out of their AYC membership!

Check out the information below for more on each event or visit our event page to RSVP.

AYC’s Committee Crawl @ the Rattle Inn
September 5th @ 5:30pm

Join the AYC on Thursday, September 5th for our first ever Committee Crawl at the Rattle Inn. This is a unique opportunity to learn about AYC’s committee opportunities from the committee members themselves! Each committee will have a display table with committee info and committee members there to answer any questions.

As a Month of Membership exclusive offer, this event will be free for both members and non members. So come network, bring a friend, have a drink or two, and learn what getting involved in AYC is all about.

AYC Ultimate Tailgate
September 14th, 3-7pm

Join the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce for it’s annual tailgate party on September 14th before the Texas vs. Ole Miss game. This year we are partnering with Brown Distributing to bring you an exclusive and unique tailgate experience.

Your ticket includes admission to AYC’s private tailgate including drinks, food from Stubb’s BBQ, games, live music and admission to Brown Distributing’s Shock Top Tailgate next door!

This year’s tailgate will take place at the SW Corner of 18th & Brazos. Look for the AYC Sign.

AYC Speaker Series with Mark Strama
September 23rd, 11:30am-1pm

Join AYC on Monday, September 23rd in the Austin Chamber of Commerce boardroom, for our monthly speaker series luncheon featuring Mark Strama, head of Google Fiber Austin.

Mark Strama has recently resigned from the Texas House of Representatives to head Google Fiber in Austin. Google selected Austin to be the second city (after Kansas City) where they intend to lay fiber optic cable to the home, enabling a 100-fold increase in internet download speeds and 500-fold increase in upload speeds compared to what most Austin broadband users experience today. Remember how different surfing the internet felt when you went from dial-up internet service to broadband? The increase in bandwidth from today’s broadband to Fiber is much greater than the increase from dial-up to broadband.

No one knows for sure where this technological advancement will lead. In the near term, it will simply allow you to do all the things you currently do online, only much faster. But once a critical mass of consumers has access to faster internet service, new applications will evolve that unleash uses of the internet none of us had previously contemplated.

Special thank you to our 2013 Speaker Series Sponsor, Baylor Executive MBA Program!

During AYC’s Month of Membership non members can attend this event at general member pricing of only $10- that’s half price, so bring a friend or co-worker!

AYC Membership Mixer @ Mettle
September 26th, 5:30-7:30pm

Join AYC on Thursday, September 26th at 5:30pm for our monthly Membership Mixer at Mettle. AYC Membership Mixers are a great way to get connected with other AYC members and expand your business network. They are also an excellent way to learn more about the organization if you are interested in joining.

During AYC’s Month of Membership this event is FREE for both members and non members. So make sure to bring a friend!

Special thank you to our event sponsor and host, Mettle!
