AMBASSADOR OF THE MONTH: Magdalena Trenkner

AMBASSADOR OF THE MONTH: Magdalena Trenkner

Name: Magdalena Trenkner
Company: Intel
Role: Sales & Marketing

    1. What brought you to Austin and how long have you been here?
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area but the insane rise in the cost of living forced me to find a new home. I’ve been in Austin for 2.5 years now and absolutely love it.
    2. How did you get connected to AYC?
Through the incomparable Jeremy Young. He kept mentioning AYC and something called a “Casino Social” in passing conversations and curiosity got the better of me after I met a few fellow (amazing) AYCers and I took to Google to learn more… and joined!
    3. What are you involved with in AYC AND what is your favorite part of AYC?
I’m a member of the Ambassador Committee and join the Imagine Committee as often as I can. My favorite part of AYC is simply meeting and chatting with everyone. I always learn something new, make new connections, and leave every event with a happy heart and a huge smile on my face.
    4. Where can we find you brunching in Austin on any given Saturday?
mmmmm…. Searsucker. I have been to places that try, but no one comes close to their tenderloin benedict….. and don’t get me started on the cocktails…
    5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and what would you use it for?
To get away with anything (…..asking questions I *really* want the answer to, “borrowing” a few bucks from the bank, jumping on a first-class flight to Paris….). As always, I would only use my powers for good.
    6. If you could have any celebrity live next door to you, who would it be?
Most people that know me would expect me to say Ed Sheeran but Adele is my spirit animal (sorry Ed).
    7. If you had guests visiting Austin for the weekend, where is the first place you would take them to show them a good time?
My first stop is always Torchy’s Tacos… then walking around South Congress… and finishing up with drinks and dancing on Rainey. All 3 are so uniquely Austin, I have to make sure to get those in straightaway and start their visit right.
    8. If you played hooky for a day, where would we find you and what would you be doing?
Honestly? I’d probably be home working on some rando house project (….stringing up lights in the closet, organizing…. everything, playing guitar, catching up on my shows)…… and then my extrovert would kick in and I’d tempt some friends to meet me for drinks.
    9. When people ask you what you do for a living, what do you tell them?
I work at Intel for the Sales & Marketing department.
    10. What technology could you not live without?
      My phone!
    11. Who inspires you?
My friends. I have an eclectic group of friends where everyone, at one point or another, is working on self-improvement – and inspires me to do the same. And when it’s ME doing the self-improvement, they’re always there with encouragement – or to join me!
    12. What is your proudest accomplishment?
I would say my move to Austin is a big one – I did everything on my own… from getting approval from Intel to take my job with me, researching where to move, getting everything arranged for transport… to making new friends and exploring the city enough to call it home.
    13. If you couldn’t live in Austin, where would you want to live?
My dream has always been New York City…. but, on a more practical note… Nashville.
    14. I want to learn how to…?
Read minds… is that available on TedTalk yet?
    15. Pick:
      Soup or Salad?
      bleh. neither
      Indoors or Outdoors?
      bleh. both.
      Winter or Summer?
      summer
      Tea or Coffee?
      coffee
      Mountains or Beach?
      beach
    16. Favorite Drink?
wine for fun; water for always
