Dear Members of the Austin Young Chamber,

On behalf of the AYC Board of Directors, I want to share some important news with you. Our exceptional Executive Director Melanie Plummer — who has served The Austin Young Chamber with grace, grit and gumption since it’s conception in January 2009 — has decided to move on to the next phase of her career.  It’s because of Melanie’s dedication to the mission and vision of AYC that the organization has grown into what it is today.  Her last day in the office will be Friday, February 28^th, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.

Fortunately for AYC, Melanie will continue to be involved with the organization, serving as a volunteer, advisor, and will remain active in many future events and programs.

With this news, the Board of Directors is turning our attention to finding the next Executive Director of the Austin Young Chamber, and that process has already begun. We recently met and voted to hire one of our Board Members, Ms. Abby Alwan, to serve as the interim Executive Director until a suitable replacement can be selected by the board.

During this transition, the AYC staff and board will continue to work tirelessly to provide members with exceptional events and member benefits.  Over the next few months be on the lookout for-

On a personal note, I’ve had the privilege of knowing Melanie since 2010, when I joined what became the FAVE Awards Committee.  I have always been impressed with Melanie’s drive, dedication, and focus in making AYC the best it can possibly be.  I’m confident I share your sentiment of relief and joy that Melanie remains committed to our organization, as we all value her experience, presence and enthusiasm for the members of AYC and the Austin community.
