Melanie Plummer – Executive Director
Melanie Plummer is the Executive Director for the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce. Melanie serves as the chief executor for the overall vision and direction of the AYC. She is responsible for the general growth and branding of the organization as well as the management of everyday operations. She oversees all AYC events, committees and staff.
Born and raised in Austin, Melanie graduated from the University of Texas in 2006. After graduation, she went on to work for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in South Carolina. Melanie served two roles at the Chamber, as the Special Events Manager for the MBACC and Project Coordinator for the National I-73/74 Corridor Association. She helped with the planning and implementation of all Chamber events. Including, the 2008 Congressional Black Caucus Primary Presidential Debate, featuring Presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton, and John Edwards, and the 2008 South Carolina Republican Party Presidential debate featuring eight of the Republican presidential candidates. She also helped organize the Rock Out Your Vote! Young Voter Event. Also, as Project Coordinator for the National I-73/74 Corridor Association she scheduled and attended meetings with legislators on a local, state and national level, including meetings with key Congressional and Senate members in Washington, D.C.
Melanie is an active member of the Austin community. She is a life member of the Texas Exes, and a member of the Beta Lambda Beta Alumni Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. She volunteers her time as a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, and working with the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. She is a graduate of the 2010 Leadership Austin Emerge Program and serves on the Leadership Austin Emerge Recruitment Community.
Jody Tropeano – Membership & Sponsorship Representative
Jody is the Membership & Sponsorship Representative for the Austin Young Chamber of Commerce. She is responsible for recruiting and retaining AYC memberships and sponsorships as well as general fundraising for the organization. Jody works closely with the AYC Executive Director, Board of Directors and Member committees to maintain the overall growth vision of the organization. Jody believes in AYC’s mission to help develop Austin’s young professional community into the best and brightest around.
Jody was born and raised in New Jersey, and graduated from Fordham University in New York City. At Fordham, Jody studied Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Economics. She also was a member of the Fordham Cheerleading team, and both the Beta Gama Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. She moved to Austin shortly after graduating college in order to experience a new city, and quickly fell in love with all that Austin had to offer. Before joining the AYC, Jody was a financial advisor at MetLife where she obtained her Series 7 license. She also worked as an Equity Analyst Assistant at Morgan Stanley and interned at Merrill Lynch, both in NYC.
Jody is very excited to contribute to the expansion of the AYC. She feels that organizations like the Austin Young Chamber are what makes Austin the best city in the US to be a young professional.
